The Kansas City Marathon returns Saturday. Here’s where the roads will be closed

For the first time since 2019, the Kansas City Marathon will again run through the city streets on Saturday over a 26.2-mile course that is expected to impact traffic conditions from the morning into the early afternoon.

The starting line for the full marathon, sponsored by Garmin, will be just north of Theis Park on Emanuel Cleaver II Boulevard. The race runs from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. Roughly 2,000 people are expected to participate in the full marathon.

Runners will travel through a winding path that stretches as far north as 6th Street all the way down to 75th Street. It will go through neighborhoods including Country Club Plaza, Westport and the 18th & Vine District.

Kansas City police will direct traffic and will allow crossing of the route when it is deemed safe to do so, according to the Sports Commission. Road closures will span the widest amount of time as the race distance ticks upward.
