Early morning fire heavily damages Lee’s Summit home
An early morning fire caused significant damage as it swept through a Lee’s Summit house Tuesday.
No one was home when the fire broke out in the one-story, single-family house in the 100 block of Northeast Ash Street.
According to the Lee’s Summit Fire Department:
A neighbor called 911 and reported fire coming from the side of the house.
The first firefighters on the scene reported smoke and fire coming from a front window.
Firefighters forced their way in through the front door and found a large amount fire in the living room and attic.
After knocking down the flames, firefighters searched the residence but found no one home. The fire was brought under control by about 12:40 a.m.
The resident returned home while crews fought the fire.
The cause of the fire is believed to be electrical and started in the living room.
The fire heavily damaged the living room and part of the attic. Heat and smoke damaged the remainder of the house.
