Bicyclist killed in Kansas City wreck is identified

A bicyclist killed in a Kansas City traffic crash was identified Wednesday as 57-year-old John H. Baskin.

Baskin, of Kansas City, was killed Monday afternoon in a collision with a pickup truck at 45th Street and Indiana Avenue.

According to police, Baskin was riding east on 45th Street when his bike collided with a northbound pickup truck. A witness told police that Baskin rode through a stop sign before the crash.

Police said he was not wearing a helmet.

The pickup driver was not injured and stayed at the scene to provide a statement, police said.
