Two injured in accident on I-49 in Grandview
An accident on northbound Interstate 49 in Grandview left two drivers injured late Monday morning. Neither person suffered life-threatening injuries.
A 25-year-old woman driving a Chevrolet Equinox struck the rear of a Missouri Department of Transportation truck about 10:45 a.m., according to Grandview police. That driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, suffered a knee injury.
A MoDOT employee who had been driving the truck also was taken to a hospital.
Several MoDOT workers were repairing a concrete barrier along the far left lane of northbound I-49 when the accident occurred, said Stephen Porter, MoDOT spokesman. The MoDOT truck had been equipped with a truck-mounted attenuator, or cushioning device.
“The attenuator did its job, cushioning the collision,” Porter said.
Normal traffic resumed by about 1 p.m.
