Two injured in early morning Kansas City house fire

Two people sustained critical injuries after a fire broke out in a Kansas City house early Tuesday.

Firefighters responded to the blaze shortly before 1:50 a.m. in the 4400 block of Elmwood Avenue.

Three people were inside the house when the fire started. Firefighters were looking into reports that a neighbor entered the burning house and pulled two people to safety.

“The fire was too intensive when we got to the scene, so I don’t know if anyone could have entered right then,” Battalion Chief James Garrett, a spokesman for the Kansas City Fire Department, told media.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
