Overland Park drowning victim identified

A man who drowned Saturday night at an Overland Park apartment complex was identified Monday as 42-year-old Emmanuel E. Nyiti.

Nyiti, of Merriam, had been swimming in the pool of the Fiesta Square apartments in the 9500 block of West 85th Street before he was found unresponsive under the water.

Witnesses who found him began CPR. Emergency medical workers took over when they arrived, but Nyiti could not be revived, according to Overland Park police.
