Officer from Merriam dies in Qatar

A U.S. Army officer from Merriam died last week on deployment in Qatar, the Defense Department says.

Maj. Jonathan D. Walker, 44, died Wednesday in Dohar from what Defense officials said in a press release was a “non-combat related incident” at Camp As Sayliyah. The release said the incident is under investigation.

Walker was assigned to Headquarters Company, 4th Psychological Operations Group based in Fort Bragg, N.C.
