Weather looking good for Royals-Angels game at the K
While the Kansas City Royals have been taking fans on a wild ride, the weather for Sunday’s playoff game likely won’t.
“We’re not looking at anything too crazy,” said Pamela Murray, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. “It will be a little on the cool side, but that’s pretty typical fall weather.”
That’s welcome news after a week in which some areas around the metro were socked with 2 to 4 inches of rain. Flash flood warnings remained in effect Saturday in several counties in northwest Missouri.
The Royals take on the Los Angeles Angels at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Kauffman Stadium in game three of the American League Division Series. The day will be mostly sunny, starting out in the mid-40s in the Kansas City area, Murray said, with highs reaching the upper 60s to lower 70s. For those going to the game, jackets would probably be a good idea, with temperatures in the upper 60s by the first pitch and in the upper 50s to lower 60s by game’s end, she said.
There’s a slight chance for light rain showers Sunday night into Monday morning. Things should clear out in the afternoon in plenty of time for the 5 p.m. start of the American League Division Series game four, Murray said. The game will only be needed if the Royals lose Sunday. The temperatures at the start of the game should be in the upper 60s, dropping to the lower 60s by the end.
Average temperatures for this time of year are highs of 71 and lows around 50, Murray said. So, unlike the Royals’ season, “we’re pretty near normal.”
