Pedestrian struck and killed walking on Interstate 29 in KC
A 57-year-old Kansas City woman was apparently trying to cross the southbound lanes of Interstate 29 near Tiffany Springs Parkway on foot about 3 a.m. Saturday when she was struck by a car, police said. Lynne Mauton died of her injuries, police said.
The driver stopped and called the police. Excessive speed and impairment by the driver were ruled out, and the driver was released, police said.
Shortly before the fatality, police were called to an accident at eastbound Interstate 70 and Van Brunt Boulevard. A man with serious injuries was taken to an area hospital.
About 10:30 p.m. Friday, a teenager was seriously injured and taken to an area hospital after being struck at Chouteau Trafficway and N.E. 39th Street, police said.
