Video shows construction progress at new Kansas City International Airport terminal

A video released of the Kansas City International Airport New Terminal shows the new structural steel work at the terminal.

So far, 2,167 pieces of steel and more than 172,000 square feet of metal deck have been installed on the new terminal, according to a news release from the Kansas City Aviation Department.

The structural steel work started in April and will continue through early 2021, according to the release.

Crews are currently working on building the concrete foundation, steel structure and metal deck, concrete slab-on-metal deck, elevated roadway structure, and parking garage grading.

The Build KCI project is the largest single infrastructure project in the city’s history, according to the news release, and is more than 1 million square feet.

Work on the terminal began on March 25, 2019 and it is scheduled to open in the spring of 2023.
