10 injured in 4-vehicle crash in Olathe; some in serious condition, fire captain says

Ten people required medical attention Sunday afternoon following a crash in Olathe, a fire official said.

Five of the patients appeared to be in critical condition after the collision involving a sedan and an SUV at South Harrison Street and Old 56 Highway, according to Capt. Mike Hall of the Olathe Fire Department.

Fire responders were called to the crash about 5 p.m., dispatchers said.

Of the patients, nine were extricated from the vehicles, Hall said. Two or three of those seriously hurt were children, Hall said.

In a news release, the Olathe Police Department said the crash involved four vehicles.

Some of the multiple people taken to local hospitals had serious injuries, police said.

Police asked anyone with information about the wreck to call them at 913-971-6950 or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.
