22-year-old Kansas City man dies in Monday crash near Manchester Trafficway, police say

A man died Monday in a single-vehicle crash near Manchester Trafficway, Kansas City police said.

Uziel Navarrete, 22, of Kansas City, drove a Ford Focus headed northbound when he lost control on a curve, went off the road and hit a railroad bridge support, Officer Doaa El-Ashkar, a Kansas City police spokeswoman, said in an email Wednesday.

The crash was reported just after 4 p.m. Monday near Manchester Trafficway and Stadium Drive.

Navarrete was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead about 8:30 p.m. Monday, El-Ashkar said.

Navarrete is the 36th person killed in a traffic crash in Kansas City this year. This time last year, 25 people had died in crashes, according to data kept by the police department.
