Two women injured in crash with Kansas City police car

While following a car that police were attempting to stop, a Kansas City police vehicle collided with another car and two people were hurt, police said.

The collision happened shortly after 4 p.m at East 39th Street and Euclid Avenue, according to the Kansas City Police Department.

Police said officers were traveling north on U.S. 71 and trying to catch up to a vehicle to make a traffic stop. The vehicle exited at 39th Street and crossed the intersection. Police followed and collided with a westbound Chrysler PT Cruiser occupied by two women.

Both women were injured and were taken to a hospital. The police officer was not injured.

In the police report about the incident it was not clear what happened to the car that police were chasing.
