Woman loses control of vehicle, dies in one-car crash on Missouri 169 Saturday

One woman died early Saturday morning in a fiery one-vehicle crash on Missouri 169.

According to Kansas City police the woman was seen driving a green GMC Yukon at a “very high rate of speed” southbound on the highway near Missouri 9 just before 2 a.m. Saturday.

A witness told police that the driver lost control of the car, which struck a guardrail before crossing the traffic lanes and becoming airborne over the highway’s concrete barrier.

The car landed and fell 80 feet, police said.

It stopped, the witness said, when it hit a tree and burst into flames.

At some point during the crash the driver was ejected from the car and died at the scene, police said.

No one else was in the vehicle.

Police have not yet released the name of the victim.
