Kansas City Fire Department vehicle involved in crash Friday, 1 taken to hospital

A Kansas City Fire Department vehicle was involved in a crash Friday afternoon at 39th Street and Euclid Avenue, according to police.

The two-vehicle wreck happened about 1:50 p.m.

A preliminary investigation by the police department determined that a Ford Expedition operated by the fire department was responding to a call at the time of the crash. It had its lights and sirens activated, police said. As the Expedition headed east, it passed through an intersection with a red light and was struck by a northbound Chevrolet Impala.

The crash caused the fire department’s vehicle to overturn.

The driver of the Expedition was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening, police said.

No other injuries were reported.
