Kansas man killed, 2 people injured in crash on Missouri 45 in Platte County

A man from Kansas was killed and two other people were taken to a hospital after a two-vehicle crash Wednesday morning, according to the Platte County Sheriff’s Office.

Emergency crews responded to the crash about 8:24 a.m. on Missouri 45 highway, south of Missouri 45 Spur highway in rural Platte County.

According to a statement from the sheriff’s office, a 30-year-old man from Winchester, Kansas, was driving a 1995 Dodge Dakota south on the highway when the truck crossed the center line and struck a northbound 2010 Volvo SUV driven by a 40-year-old man.

The driver of the Dakota was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released.

A 39-year-old woman who was a passenger in the Dakota and the driver of the SUV were taken to a hospital. The extent of their injuries was not released.

The Platte County Sheriff’s Office Crash Team is investigating the wreck.
