SUV with 2 adults, 3 children involved in rollover crash on I-435 in Overland Park

An SUV that swerved and rolled over on Interstate 435 in Overland Park Saturday morning sent at least one adult and three children to the hospital with minor injuries, according to police.

The fire department and police were called to the scene just after 10:40 a.m. and found that the vehicle had flipped over in the westbound lanes of I-435 near Metcalf Avenue.

Two adults and three children were in vehicle at the time of the crash. According to Overland Park police, one of the adults and the three children were taken to a hospital with injuries that were described as minor.

Police say it appeared the SUV swerved to avoid crashing but lost control, rolled and ended up next to a concrete barrier near the median.

Three lanes of the interstate were closed and were reopened by 11:30 a.m., according to Kansas City Scout.

The crash remained under investigation Saturday afternoon.
