Raymore-Peculiar High School teacher dies after medical emergency at school

A Raymore-Peculiar High School teacher died after suffering from a medical emergency at the school Thursday morning, according a statement from the school district.

Deborah Hale had experienced a medical emergency before classes started, the district’s statement said. She was taken to a hospital, where she later died.

Hale was a study skills teacher at the high school, and was in her 18th year of teaching for the school district.

The district said counselors are available to meet with staff and students.

Later, the district added that a memorial gathering for Hale is scheduled 2 p.m. Monday at the Atkinson Funeral Home, 600 W. Wall St. in Harrisonville. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the Raymore-Peculiar Public School Foundation for a scholarship.
