As Kansas City dries out, temps heat up

The good news for the Kansas City area is that rain-free skies will rule the first part of the work week. The bad news is that 90 degree weather is upon us.

The Kansas City area is expected to have a short drying out period to kick off the start of the week. Highs on Monday were expected to reach into the middle to upper 80s as skies will be mostly sunny.

Temperatures are expected to remain above normal on Tuesday and Wednesday, with highs reaching into the lower 90s. Kansas City reached 90 degrees for the first time this year on Sunday. Prior to that, the last time Kansas City reached 90 degrees was on Sept. 9, according to the National Weather Service.

The chance for rain returns Wednesday night or early Thursday. Showers and thunderstorms are to persist through the weekend. It’s too early to tell if the storms would be severe.

Highs are expected to return to normal for the second half of the work week and the weekend. Highs will be in the low 80s.
