Munday on Monday: Musical mystery
Musical mystery
Not literate in music, how
To read the many notes,
I scan the book which others use
To raise their many throats.
The cadence which I’d thought to guess
Is changed yet once again;
What looks to me one syllable
Is stretched to eight or ten.
I’m silent while the others sing;
When all else hush, my voice will ring
While leaving others in the lurch …
Bluffing my way through hymns at church.
