Showers and thunderstorms dumped another round of heavy rain across the Kansas City region Friday.

Because of the significant rainfall during the past two days that have saturated the ground, flooding will continue to be a concern, mainly in northwest and west-central Missouri and areas of eastern Kansas, according to the National Weather Service.

About 9 a.m., the rain was moving out of the Kansas City area, but another round of pop-up thunderstorms could develop later Friday. The threat of any of the new storms being severe will be low. Widespread heavy rain is not expected. Highs will be in the upper 70s to low 80s.

Additional rounds of thunderstorms will be possible Saturday, Sunday and into next week. Highs are expected to be in the 80s this weekend.
