A bicyclist was critically injured Friday morning when he was struck by a vehicle while riding near 135th Street and Quivira Road in Overland Park.

Police said the bicyclist was traveling eastbound on West 135th Street and approaching Quivira at Caenen Street when he was struck at 9:35 a.m. by a car heading in the same direction. The cyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police said there was no indication that the driver of the vehicle was impaired.
