Pedestrian struck by SUV near Emanuel Cleaver Boulevard and Oak Street in Kansas City

A pedestrian was struck by an SUV while crossing the street Thursday on Emanuel Cleaver II Boulevard, Kansas City police said.

The wreck was reported about 3:30 p.m., shutting down traffic on Emanuel Cleaver II Boulevard between Oak Street and Brookside Boulevard for at least an hour.

According to Bill Johnson, a master patrol officer with the accident investigation unit, the pedestrian was crossing from the south side to the north side of the street when an eastbound Toyota SUV struck the pedestrian.

The pedestrian was taken to a hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening, police said.

The driver remained at the scene and was cooperating with police in the investigation.
