Fatal crash shuts down westbound I-70 on Kansas Turnpike

At least one person has died in a multiple-vehicle crash on Interstate 70 on the Kansas Turnpike Sunday that shutdown the westbound lanes for more than two hours.

The crash was reported shortly before 4:30 p.m. at mile marker 214 east of Bonner Springs.

Four vehicles were involved in the crash, leaving one person dead. Several other people were transported to an area hospital with injuries, said Rachel Bell with the Kansas Turnpike Authority.

The cause of the crash was still under investigation Sunday evening.

Westbound traffic was diverted onto Kansas 7.
