A 68-year-old man driving a Ford Ranger died after his pickup truck hit a utility pole late Saturday on Kansas City’s east side, according to police.

Police responded to the crash just after 11 p.m. at Gregory Boulevard and James A. Reed Road.

The truck was headed west on Gregory when it ran off the road for an unknown reason, police said. The truck struck a utility pole and then a tree before stopping.

The driver was rushed to a hospital, where he died. Police did not immediately release the man’s name, pending notification of family.
