Bicyclist hit by SUV, taken to hospital with serious injuries, Prairie Village police say

A bicyclist was seriously injured after he was struck by an SUV Tuesday night in Prairie Village, police said.

The crash happened about 5:30 p.m. on Mission Road near West 84th Street.

According to Prairie Village Police Sgt. Eric McCullough, it appeared the SUV was traveling south on Mission Road when it hit the bicyclist. The bicyclist, an adult male, was taken to a hospital with serious head injuries.

The driver of the SUV remained at the scene and was cooperating with police.

Police were interviewing the driver and witnesses, and were waiting to receive an update on the bicyclist.

Part of Mission Road between West 83rd and West 85th streets remained closed Tuesday night as police investigated.
