Project Warmth is collecting coats and blankets Saturday: Here are the drop-off sites

Gather your unwanted coats and blankets, everyone!

It’s time to donate them Saturday, Nov. 3.

We’re serious about comfy, gently used coats and blankets. Not dress shirts, faded jeans or Dad’s old bathrobe.

In the 36 years that Kansas Citians have given so generously to Project Warmth, co-sponsored by The Star, many have emptied their closets of all things cloth. Which is a sweet sentiment, but for logistical reasons, it’s best to donate just coats and blankets, said project coordinator Kim Rosley.

The goal, which is always met, is warmth in wintertime. And that’s a huge thing for area families in need.

Drop-off sites will be operating Saturday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. The project is aiming to collect 15,000 items that will be distributed by The Salvation Army.

Here’s where you can go:

Independence Center, north side of lot across from Macy’s.

Ward Parkway Shopping Center, at lot off State Line Road.

Oak Barry Center, Kansas City, North.

Oak Park Mall, lot next to Quivira Road, Overland Park.

The Legends/Nebraska Furniture Mart, Kansas City, Kan.

Town Center Plaza, next to Pottery Barn in Leawood.

The Star/Crossroads, 1601 McGee St., Kansas City.

KCTV-5, 4500 Shawnee Mission Pkwy., Fairway.

Volunteers from the Salvation Army, Mid-America Assistance Coalition, The Star and KCTV-5, among others, will be happy to load your donations into trucks.

And they’d love you to remember: just coats and blankets, please.
