Motorist is killed in single-car wreck in western Independence
A 38-year-old woman was killed late Sunday when she lost control of a car, left the roadway and collided into a tree, according to Independence police.
Police identified the victim as Lisa A. Riggs in a news release on Tuesday.
The crash happened around 11:45 p.m. Sunday at 30th Street and on Blue Ridge Boulevard in the western portion of Independence.
The victim was traveling northbound on Blue Ridge Boulevard when her car left the roadway and struck a tree. No one else was in the car, police said.
The wreck remains under investigation.
