A Riverside business is evacuated after former employee makes a bomb threat

A man making a bomb threat at a Riverside business Thursday evening was arrested and is being charged with trespassing.

Riverside police said a former employee of Velociti, a technology supply company at 4780 NW 41st Street, walked in making threats, including saying that he might have an explosive device in his vehicle.

The business was evacuated about 5 p.m. Police contacted Kansas City bomb squad, the Federal Bureau of Investigations and the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms, after finding something in the man’s car.

The man was arrested at the scene and was being charged with trespassing, “because of his mental state,” said Riverside Sgt. Brent Holland.

A bomb robot was used to inspect the car and Holland said officials were investigating the incident to determine whether the man’s threats were credible.
