One person reported dead in I-435 crash, KC police say

At least one person was reported dead in a crash on Interstate 435 Thursday night, Kansas City police said.

The crash was reported just before 6 p.m. in the northbound lanes of the interstate between N.E. 96th Street and N.E. 108th Street.

It’s unclear how many vehicles were involved in the wreck. It appeared to involve a semi-truck, video from Kansas City Scout showed.

The cause of the crash was under investigation, though a tweet from the Kansas City office of the Missouri Department of Transportation described it as a “wrong-way” crash. All northbound lanes remained closed past 96th Street as authorities worked at the scene late Thursday.

The victim’s identity has not yet been released.
