Munday on Monday: Autumn equinox
Autumn equinox
The equinox occurs today, though most of us were taught
Tradition says the Twenty-First, but check it out — it’s not.
Don’t even try to pin it down: The equinox is mobile
And wanders through a range of dates (perhaps because it’s global.)
The Twenty-Third will sometimes mark arrival on the block;
It hit the “snooze” repeatedly and thus ignored the clock.
But other times it’s earlier — the Twenty-Second, right?
Apparently for cheaper fares, it caught an early flight.
I wonder what’s the latest date the equinox will hunker;
If ever it’s October, well, you’ll find me in a bunker!
