A photo of a Wednesday morning crash has the Clay County Sheriff’s Twitter followers asking how it could be that only minor injuries resulted from the bizarre wreck.

The picture shows a long pipe dangling out of the rear passenger side window of an SUV.

The pipe appears to be suspended, not touching the ground. A pole lies in the foreground of the picture.

The crash happened about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday near Missouri 92 and Route DD, just east of Smithville.

“Amazingly this crash only resulted in minor injuries,” the sheriff’s office said on Twitter.

“The pipe missed the driver almost completely,” Capt. Will Akin, a spokesman for the sheriff’s office, reported.

No one was taken to the hospital as a result of the crash.

The sheriff’s office did not immediately provide more details about the incident.

The crash was under investigation.
