A tractor-trailer tanker carrying dangerous dry acid overturned in an industrial park in Kansas City, Kan., Thursday afternoon, but never spilled as emergency crews worked to secure the truck.

The tanker flipped on its side near South 59th Lane south of Kaw Drive. Police secured a 1,500-foot safety zone around the crash, closing all roads into the area.

The Kansas Highway Patrol and Department of Transportation helped secure the area. The roads reopened by 3:30 p.m.

The fire department’s hazardous material specialists were on hand to help as the truck was lifted back onto its wheels.

The work was completed without incident, Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department spokesman Morris Letcher said.

“It did not spill and there were no injuries.”
