Wrong-way driver in critical condition after causing 2 accidents on southbound I-435
A driver of a red Mustang drove north on southbound I-435 on Monday evening and caused two accidents, closing the interstate for hours.
Police say the driver was traveling northbound on southbound I-435 when the vehicle was involved in a minor injury accident north of East Winner Road.
The driver was also involved in a second accident near Front Street. Two occupants of that vehicle received serious but non-life threatening injuries.
The driver was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.
Police were dispatched to the area around 6:42 p.m. The interstate was shut down for more than two hours.
