Kansas City school lockdown lifted

Students a Kansas City middle school spent part of Friday morning locked in their classrooms after someone posted a threat on social media.

Officials gave the all clear at Smith-Hale Middle School in the Hickman Mills School District about noon Friday after a search by police did not turn up any weapons on campus.

The school at 8925 Longview Road was locked down Friday morning after a threat was posted, school officials said.

After the lockdown was lifted, parents were allowed to pick up their children. Students also were given the option of staying in school for the rest of the day.
