Liberty fire victim identified

Authorities on Thursday identified the Liberty apartment resident who died in a fire this week as Jeffrey Paul Alt, 52.

Firefighters responded to the apartment complex in the 1200 block of Missouri Court after residents began alerting others about 3:40 a.m. Tuesday. The fire left another person injured and also displaced several apartment residents.

The state fire marshal’s office investigated the fire with the assistance of Liberty fire and police personnel. The fire currently is being classified as accidental, although investigators have not ruled out an electrical cause.
