Defective brakes may have been factor in Northland FedEx death, sheriff’s office says
The Federal Express worker who died Friday when he was struck by his delivery vehicle has been identified as Charles L. Sims of Independence, according the Platte County Sheriff’s office.
The incident occurred just after 4 p.m. in the 18000 block of Amber Court. Deputies arrived and found the 52-year-old driver had been pinned against a house by his delivery vehicle. Sims was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died.
An investigation into the accident indicated that defective brakes may have contributed to the accident, the sheriff’s office said.
