Authorities seek assistance in finding missing Independence man

Independence authorities on Thursday requested assistance in finding a missing resident.

James L. Kinder, 49, has not been seen by family members since Monday morning. Kinder, according to his family, has the mental capacity of an 8-year-old and also suffers from schizophrenia.

He has been known to walk away from home in the 4900 block of South Milton Court, and has hitchhiked in the past. He has a fascination with Ford Mustangs and likely is wearing camouflage boots with either a green or brown Carhartt jacket.

Anyone with information about Kinder is asked to call 911 or contact Independence police at 816-836-3600.
