Passing motorist performs CPR on Osage Beach officer injured in crash
A passing motorist performed CPR on an injured Osage Beach police officer after a pickup truck struck him during a traffic stop Thursday morning.
Officer Austin White, 27, who suffered critical injuries, was flown to a Columbia hospital, where he had regained consciousness, according to Sgt. Arlyne Page, a spokeswoman for Osage Beach police.
White had stopped a vehicle about 6:15 a.m. at the east end of the eastbound side of the Grand Glaize Bridge.
A GMC 3/4-ton pickup driven by a 58-year-old Osage Beach man crashed into the patrol car of an Osage Beach officer who was assisting White. The pickup then hit White and a 2002 Ford Ranger.
The Missouri Highway Patrol is investigating and conducting a comprehensive reconstruction of the crash.
