Platte City teen dies in single-vehicle crash into a tree on Missouri Route N

A 17-year-old Platte City teen died late Saturday when he crashed his vehicle into a tree on Missouri Route N in Platte County.

The crash occurred about 11:40 p.m. Saturday in the 10800 block of Missouri Route N, which is west of Kansas City International Airport.

Luke Hogue was headed north when his vehicle left the highway and crashed into a tree, according to the Platte County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators think the vehicle was speeding. Alcohol is not thought to have been involved in the crash, according to the sheriff’s office.

The Platte County Sheriff’s Office Crash Team is investigating the wreck.
