Eight-year-old boy seriously hurt in wrong-way crash on I-35
A driver traveling the wrong way on Interstate 35 just after midnight Sunday morning in Liberty crashed her vehicle into another, seriously injuring an 8-year-old Kearney, Mo., boy.
The Missouri Highway Patrol reported that a 2009 Hyundai, driven by 20-year-old Madison E. Mortallaro of Smithville, Mo., was traveling south in the northbound lanes of I-35 at Missouri 291.
Her vehicle hit a 2007 Mitsubishi driven by Joshua R. West, 36, of Kearney, Mo. A child in West’s vehicle, Nathaniel West, suffered serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to a hospital. No other injuries were reported.
