Independence police release photos, video of suspect in string of robberies on U.S. 24

Independence police on Wednesday released photos and video showing a suspect in a series of armed robberies along U.S. 24 this month.

In each case, police said, the robber pointed a handgun at store employees and robbed them of cash.

The robber’s face is not visible in the photos or video, but police said they hope someone might recognize something about his appearance or clothing.

Police have linked four robberies to the suspect, beginning with the robbery of a Subway store at 911 N. Noland Road about 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 1. This robbery was captured on surveillance video released by police Wednesday.

A second robbery occurred on Jan. 3 at a Family Dollar store at 11213 E. U.S. 24. The next two robberies occurred at the same Dollar General store at 421 E. U.S. 24 on Jan. 7 and Jan. 12.

Police described the suspect as a man in his 20s with a medium skin complexion, about 5-foot-6 or 5-foot-8 and 150 to 175 pounds. He wore a dark hooded sweatshirt with white lining, blue jeans, tan and black boots, and a black or red bandana. He has used a black handgun.
