Man killed in east Kansas City traffic crash

One person was killed early Friday morning in a rollover traffic crash in east Kansas City.

Kansas City police said the wreck occurred about 2 a.m. Friday near 47th Street and Pittman Road.

Witnesses told police that the driver of a Kia was heading north on Pittman at a “high rate of speed” when he lost control and ran off the road. The car rolled several times, throwing the driver from the vehicle, according to police.

The driver died at the scene. His identity has not been released. Police said it was the 13th traffic fatality in Kansas City this year.
