Star reporter wins first-place in Kansas Press awards for hunger project

Kansas City Star reporter Laura Bauer has won the Boyd Community Service Award in the Kansas Press Association contest.

Bauer won for her work on a campaign to reduce childhood hunger in the Kansas City area. Readers contributed $275,000 toward the effort to push the five-year total for the campaign past $1 million.
