Overland Park house is destroyed by fire
Fire destroyed a house in south Overland Park on Saturday afternoon. The three people who lived there were gone at the time, but two pets died, officials said.
Overland Park and Olathe firefighters reported heavy smoke and fire coming from the two-story house when they arrived about 3:30 p.m. in the 12600 block of West 126th Street.
It took them an hour to bring the blaze under control. A house next door suffered minor damage from the flames. The cause is under investigation.
