I-29 reopened as standoff at Northland motel ends
Police reopened the southbound lanes on Interstate 29 south of Barry Road Sunday evening that had been closed while negotiators communicated with a person in a nearby motel who was believed to be armed and suicidal.
The person surrendered to police without incident and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
The highway had been closed for about two hours from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Police first surrounded the motel in the 8200 block of Northwest Prairie View Road about 4:30 p.m.
