Man dies after being thrown from truck in crash near Smithville Lake
A 26-year-old Smithville man died at a hospital early Tuesday from injuries sustained when he was ejected through a windshield during a crash in Clay County.
The crash occurred about 10:35 p.m. Monday along Missouri Route DD just west of Litton Way, near Smithville Lake, according to a preliminary crash report from the Missouri Highway Patrol.
Travis Wilson was headed east on Route DD in a 1980 GMC truck when the truck ran off the right side of the road. It struck a driveway, became airborne and overturned.
Wilson was not wearing a seat belt, according to the highway patrol.
