Johnson County Community College on Tuesday announced a $10 million gift from the Sunderland Foundation that will spur a $102.6 million campus transformation plan.

The $10 million is a matching grant intended to encourage other individuals and organizations to contribute.

The donation will be applied toward JCCC’s new Career and Technical Education Center.

Other parts of the campus plan include renovation and expansion of the Arts and Technology Building and the Welding Laboratory Building, a new face for the Student Center, upgrades to athletic facilities and consolidation of five academic resource centers.

“Just as the (campus) initiative is the largest for the college, this is the largest gift in the history of our foundation,” Kent Sunderland said in a news release. “We are pleased to have it it support the students at JCCC and encourage others to join us.”
