Park Hill schools chief Scott Springston resigns, citing health reasons
The superintendent of the Park Hill School District will resign for health reasons, the district announced Monday.
Scott Springston will take an immediate leave of absence before the resignation takes effect June 30.
The board of education accepted the resignation Monday, according to a statement issued by the district.
“We appreciate Dr. Springston’s work during his almost three years as our superintendent in Park Hill,” board President Boon Lee said. “He made significant contributions to the success of this district. We wish him all the best for his health and success in the future.”
Jeanette Cowherd, the district’s assistant superintendent for school improvement, will serve as acting superintendent.
Cowherd has been involved with the Smart Start early literacy program and online learning. She previously taught instrumental music in southwest Missouri and the Shawnee Mission School District.
Cowherd has received a March of Dimes Teacher of the Year award, award a Teacher of the Year award at Shawnee Mission West High School and an Influential Educator award from the Missouri Scholars Academy.
