Rain expected to end by afternoon, but more coming Sunday night
Rains that fell throughout the Kansas City metro area Sunday morning are expected to end by early afternoon, but a second round is expected to hit the area around midnight.
The metro might see some thunderstorms Sunday night, as well, but with the exception of possible hail and wind gusts, the storms aren’t expected to be severe.
“Nothing severe today,” said Jared Leighton, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. “Tonight, perhaps a chance for some strong storms, but I think for the most part, they should be pretty subdued.
“Small hail, some marginal gust winds, some heavy rains, and that should probably be the limit of those hazards.”
Following the overnight rain, Monday’s temperatures are expected to reach the middle to upper 60s.
The next chance for rain, Leighton said, will likely be Wednesday.
